Sound mapping a room

Data Tree

20 sound loops created by splicing an image of a tree in front of my studio, converting the sections into sound via Pixelsynth, running them backwards through a home-made synthesizer according to a Minesweeper game I played for ‘Screen’. The installation was a web page playing everything on a loop, where the viewer could combine the sounds of the clips.

Microbial fuel cells

A project involving a cross disciplinary research team at UCL, building a microbial fuel cell prototype at Calthorpe Community Garden, showcasing the potential of recovering energy and nutrients from waste. The project has been funded by UCL Grand Challenges under the call of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The prototype includes 470 individual fuel cells (320 groups and 150 plant MFCs) that help reduce the organic matter content in the diluted digestate and create a vertical garden.
